How do you see the ePrivacy regulation affecting different communication channels?

ePrivacy or its current UK version PECR (Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulation) affects almost all marketing channels – cookies, email, SMS and even Telephone marketing because PECR is where TPS (Telephone Preference Service) is defined.

In the proposed text it will also include over the top services such as WhatsApp and VOIP services such as Skype.

 

How is the ePrivacy regulation going to affect various sectors in different ways? 

Digital marketers might be the most affected by ePrivacy potentially making the rules abot placing and using cookies much more strict.

B2B marketers might have to have the same level of consent for emails as B2C marketers.

And marketers in both the B2B and B2C world might be affected by the possible requirement for consent for making telephone calls.
